Privacy Policy

Last updated on: 2025-04-17

Your privacy is important to KOBDi. This Privacy Policy explains how KOISRA Co., Ltd. (“KOBDi,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your personal information when you use the KOBDi website (kobdi.co.kr) and related Services. It also describes your rights and choices regarding your personal data and how you can contact us about our privacy practices.

By using the Site or Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use our Services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect several types of information from and about Users of our Services, including:

1.1 Personal Information Provided by You: When you create an account, subscribe to our services, or contact us, you may provide personal information such as:

  • Contact Information: Name, email address, and (for business or premium accounts) phone number and company/organization name.
  • Account Credentials: Username and password (passwords are stored in an encrypted form).
  • Profile Information: If you choose to add details to your user profile (like a profile photo, job title, or other details), those will be collected as well.
  • Payment Information: For paid Subscribers, payment details (such as credit card numbers or bank account information) are collected by our third-party payment processor. KOBDi itself does not store full payment card details. We may retain limited information about your payment transactions (e.g., transaction ID, cardholder name, last four digits of card, billing address) for record-keeping and to comply with financial regulations, but full payment processing is handled off-site by our payment provider.

1.2 Data Automatically Collected: When you use KOBDi, we automatically collect certain information about your device and usage of our Site:

  • Usage Data: We log usage information such as your searches, the pages or company profiles you view, the features you use (e.g., bookmarks, saved queries), the date and time of your visits, and the referring and exit pages.
  • Device and Technical Information: We collect information about the device and browser you use to access the Services, including your IP address, device identifiers, browser type, browser language, operating system, hardware model, and network information. We may also record your screen resolution and certain device settings.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We and our service providers use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to collect information about your interaction with our Site. This includes whether you are logged in, your preferences (such as language or region), and analytics information about how Users navigate through our Site. (See the “Cookies and Tracking Technologies” section below for more details.)

1.3 Information from Third Parties: We may receive information about you from third parties, such as:

  • Social or Enterprise Logins: If we allow sign-in or account linking via third-party platforms (e.g., Google, LinkedIn, or others), we may receive certain profile information from those platforms (according to your privacy settings on those services), such as your name and email.
  • Business Data Providers: Our service focuses on providing business information. While the data we provide about Korean companies is not personal data about you, if you are associated with a business (for example, as a key executive in a public company), some of your professional information might appear in our business profiles. Such data is generally obtained from official public sources or licensed databases.
  • Service Providers: We might receive additional data from analytics providers or advertising partners to help us analyze user behavior or improve our marketing. For example, Google Analytics may provide us with demographic data or interest categories based on your browsing activities (this data is typically aggregated and doesn’t identify you personally).

1.4 Optional Surveys and Communications: From time to time, we may invite you to participate in user surveys, beta tests, or research initiatives to improve our services. If you choose to participate, you may provide personal opinions, feedback, or additional contact information. We will collect whatever information you choose to provide and will use it for the stated purposes (e.g., product improvement, testimonials) in accordance with this Policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

KOBDi uses your information for various purposes in line with providing and enhancing our Services. These purposes include:

2.1 To Provide Services: We use personal information to create and maintain your account, authenticate you when you log in, and enable you to search and access Korean business data. For example, we use your search queries to deliver relevant results, and we use your bookmarks or saved queries to present your saved content.

2.2 For Service Improvement and Analytics: We analyze usage data and user behavior to understand how our Services are used. This helps us troubleshoot issues, improve the platform’s performance, develop new features, and enhance user experience. For instance, monitoring which company profiles are viewed most often helps us optimize our database and might guide us in obtaining more comprehensive data for popular companies. We may also use aggregated usage statistics to inform our business strategy or provide reports (that do not identify individual users) on industry interest trends.

2.3 To Communicate with You:

  • Account and Service Communications: We may send you administrative emails or notifications, such as confirmations of your subscription, notices of significant changes to our Terms or Privacy Policy, security alerts (e.g., if we detect unusual activity on your account), or customer support responses.
  • Updates and Promotional Communications: With your consent or as otherwise permitted by law, we might send newsletters, marketing emails, or notifications about new features, data insights, special offers, or events related to KOBDi. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time (see “Your Rights and Choices” below).
  • Surveys and Feedback: We may reach out to request feedback on your experience or to invite you to participate in surveys and research, which is always voluntary.

2.4 For Account Management and Customer Support: We use personal information to provide customer support, respond to your inquiries or requests, and resolve any troubleshooting issues. For example, if you contact us with a problem, we will use details like your account info and the nature of the issue to help resolve it.

2.5 To Process Payments: If you have a paid subscription, we use the necessary personal information to process your subscription payments (via our third-party payment processor), manage billing, and handle renewals or cancellations. We may send billing reminders or invoicing information to your registered email.

2.6 For Security and Fraud Prevention: We are committed to keeping our platform secure. We may use your information (like IP address or account activity) to monitor for and prevent fraud, abuse, or other activities that may violate our Terms of Service or be unlawful. Unusual usage patterns may be investigated to prevent misuse of data (such as scraping or unauthorized access). We also use various security tools that might process some data (e.g., firewall logs including IP addresses) to protect against attacks.

2.7 Legal Compliance: We may use or disclose your information as required to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or government requests. This includes using data to enforce our Terms of Service, to address fraud or security issues, or to protect our rights, property, and safety or those of our users and others.

2.8 Business Transfers: If KOBDi (KOISRA Co., Ltd.) is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, joint venture, financing, reorganization, receivership, or bankruptcy, your information may be disclosed or transferred to the other party or parties involved in the transaction as part of that process. If such a transfer occurs, we will ensure the recipient commits to respect your personal information in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy or notify you and give you an opportunity to opt-out before your personal information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

3.1 Cookies: Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device to help track and remember information about your visit. KOBDi uses cookies for various purposes:

  • Essential Cookies: These are necessary for the Site to function. For example, we use session cookies to keep you logged in as you navigate between pages.
  • Preference Cookies: These remember your settings and preferences, such as your preferred language or region, so we can personalize your experience.
  • Analytics Cookies: We use these to collect information about how users use our Site (pages visited, time spent, links clicked, etc.). This helps us improve the website and Services. We may use third-party analytics tools (like Google Analytics) that set their own cookies. The information collected is generally aggregated and not used to identify you personally. You can learn about Google Analytics’ practices at the Google Analytics website and opt out by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, if you wish.
  • Authentication Cookies: When you log in, cookies help to securely verify your identity and keep you logged in during your session. They also help with site security and account recovery if you log out or your session times out.

3.2 Web Beacons and Similar Technologies: In addition to cookies, we may use other tracking technologies such as web beacons (also known as pixel tags or clear GIFs). These are tiny graphics embedded in emails or on our Site, which work in conjunction with cookies to identify our users and understand usage and campaign effectiveness. For example, we may include web beacons in marketing emails to count how many emails were opened or acted upon.

3.3 Your Choices for Cookies: Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies or alert you when a cookie is being sent. However, please note that if you choose to disable cookies, some features of our Services may not function properly (for example, you may not be able to stay logged in or your preferences might not be saved). Check your browser’s help or settings for more information on managing cookies.

3.4 Do Not Track: Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) feature that signals to websites that you do not want to have your online activity tracked. KOBDi does not currently respond to DNT signals. We adhere to the practices outlined in this Privacy Policy, and if we do so in the future, we will update this section accordingly.

4. How We Share Your Information

We understand the importance of keeping your personal information private. KOBDi does not sell or rent your personal data to third parties for their marketing purposes. We only share your information in the following circumstances and with appropriate safeguards:

4.1 Service Providers: We employ trusted third-party companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf and help us provide our Services (collectively, “Service Providers”). Examples include:

  • Data Hosting and Storage: Companies that provide data center, hosting, and cloud storage services to store and manage our data securely.
  • Analytics Services: Partners like Google Analytics that assist us in analyzing user behavior and improving our platform.
  • Payment Processors: As mentioned, third-party payment processing companies handle payment transactions. They receive your payment card details and other necessary information to process payments, refunds, or billing queries.
  • Email and Communication Services: Providers that assist in sending emails, notifications, or other communications to users (for instance, an email service platform to send newsletters or service updates).
  • Customer Support Tools: Platforms or services that help us manage support inquiries or live chat with users.

These Service Providers have access to personal information only as needed to perform their functions and are contractually obligated to maintain the confidentiality and security of your data. They are prohibited from using your information for any other purpose than to carry out the services they are performing for us, and they must comply with applicable data protection laws.

4.2 Legal Compliance and Protection: We may disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

  • Comply with a legal obligation, such as responding to a subpoena, court order, or other legal process.
  • Protect and defend the rights, property, or safety of KOBDi (KOISRA Co., Ltd.), our users, or the public. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
  • Investigate or assist in preventing any violation or potential violation of the law, this Privacy Policy, or our Terms of Service, including reports of illegal activity or threats to physical safety.

4.3 Business Transfers: As noted earlier, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of KOBDi assets, or transition of service to another provider, your information may be transferred as part of such a transaction. In such cases, we will ensure that your information remains protected by appropriate safeguards and that the receiving party agrees to honor the privacy commitments made in this Policy (or provides notice and obtains consent for any significant changes).

4.4 Aggregated or De-Identified Data: We may also share data that has been aggregated or de-identified (stripped of personally identifying characteristics). For example, we might publish reports or share statistics with partners or the public that show trends about the usage of our Services or general trends in Korean business data. Such information will not identify any individual users. For instance, we could share that “X% of users searched for manufacturing companies in the last month” or “the number of searches on our platform grew by Y% this year.” This information would not contain any personal details about our users.

4.5 With Your Consent: Apart from the cases listed above, we will share your personal information with third parties only with your explicit consent. For example, if we ever want to post a user testimonial with your name, we would ask for your permission. Or if you opt-in to a feature that involves sharing data with an external service, we will clearly explain what data will be shared and seek your consent.

5. Data Security and Storage

5.1 Security Measures: We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, alteration, and destruction. These measures include:

  • Encryption: Sensitive data (like passwords and any payment-related info we do store) is encrypted both in transit (using SSL/TLS or similar protocols when you interact with our Site) and at rest where appropriate.
  • Access Controls: Personal information is only accessible to a limited number of personnel who need access to perform their duties (for example, customer support or system administrators), and they are bound by confidentiality obligations. We use role-based access control to ensure individuals only access the data necessary for their role.
  • Security Testing: We regularly review our information collection, storage, and processing practices to guard against unauthorized access. We employ security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-malware solutions. Periodic security audits and penetration tests may be conducted to identify and address vulnerabilities.
  • Training: Our staff is trained on data security and privacy practices to ensure they understand the importance of safeguarding personal data and know how to handle it properly.

Despite these measures, no website or internet transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, hacking, data loss, or other breaches will never occur. You should use caution and care to protect your login credentials and notify us immediately of any suspected compromise of your account.

5.2 Data Storage Location: The personal information we collect is primarily stored on secure servers that may be located and distributed in several countries. However, depending on the Service Providers we use, your information may be transferred to or stored in other countries that have different data protection laws than your country of residence. Regardless of where data is stored, we will ensure that appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or other legal mechanisms) are in place to protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

5.3 Data Retention: We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements:

  • Account Data: As long as you have an active account or subscription with us, we will retain the information associated with your account. If you delete your account or your subscription expires and is not renewed, we may retain your information for a reasonable period in case you decide to reactivate, or for record-keeping purposes (unless you request deletion, as described below).
  • Usage Data: Analytics data may be retained and used in aggregate form beyond the closure of your account, but this data will not be identifiable to you personally.
  • Legal Obligations: We may retain certain information for longer if required by law (for example, financial transaction records for tax or audit purposes are typically kept for a minimum period as required by law) or to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or comply with legal processes.
  • Backups: Please note that residual copies of your personal information might remain in our backup systems for some time after deletion, though those will not be readily accessible or used for any active purpose other than disaster recovery.

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need or legal requirement to process your personal information, we will either delete it or anonymize it (so that it can no longer be associated with you), or if deletion/anonymization is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible.

5.4 Data Breach Response: In the event of a data breach that involves your personal information, we will act promptly to identify the cause, mitigate any effects, and prevent future occurrences. If a breach poses a significant risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by law, and provide information on the steps we are taking and guidance on how you can protect yourself.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have certain rights and choices regarding your personal information. These rights may vary depending on your location and applicable laws (for example, users in South Korea have rights under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and users in the EU or other jurisdictions may have GDPR or similar rights). We are committed to providing all users with a high level of transparency and control over their data.

6.1 Access and Correction: You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to request correction of any inaccuracies. Most of your basic information can be reviewed and edited by logging into your KOBDi account and visiting your account settings/profile page. If you need assistance or wish to access data not available in your account settings, you can contact us (see Contact Information below). We will provide you with a copy of your data or make corrections as required by law.

6.2 Deletion of Account and Data: You may request deletion of your account or personal information. You can do this by contacting us with a request to delete your data. Please note:

  • We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request (to ensure we don’t delete the wrong person’s data).
  • We will process legitimate deletion requests in accordance with applicable laws. This may involve deleting your account information, personal details, and any identifiable data. However, as noted in Data Retention, we may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (and such data will be securely isolated from further use).
  • After deletion, you may not be able to recover your account or any data associated with it. If you simply wish to pause using our Service, you may consider leaving the account in place or contacting support for other options.

6.3 Withdrawal of Consent: If you have given us consent for any particular processing of your personal information (for example, explicit consent to receive marketing emails), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. For marketing emails, you can easily withdraw consent by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of our emails or adjusting your email preferences in your account settings. For other consent withdrawals, contact us for assistance.

6.4 Objection and Restriction: In certain jurisdictions, you may have the right to object to or ask us to restrict processing of your personal information, particularly if we are processing your data based on our legitimate interests or for direct marketing. For example, you can request that we stop using your data for analytics by using browser opt-outs for cookies or contacting us.

6.5 Portability: If applicable (e.g., under GDPR for EU users), you have the right to request a copy of the personal information you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and to have that information transmitted to another service provider where technically feasible. We will assist with such requests as required by law.

6.6 Responding to Requests: We will respond to your requests as soon as reasonably possible and within any timeframes required by law (usually within 30 days). If we need more time, we will inform you of the reason and extension period. Please note that certain requests may be denied if they conflict with legal obligations, or if they infringe on trade secrets, intellectual property, or the privacy of other users. We may also decline requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic.

6.7 Verification: For your security, we may need to verify your identity (for example, by requiring you to log in or provide certain information) before fulfilling certain requests. If you have an account, verification will often be done through your account login credentials. If you do not have an account or have lost access, we will work with you to verify identity via other means.

6.8 Complaints: If you believe your rights regarding personal data have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In South Korea, this could be the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) or a local equivalent. We encourage you to contact us first, so we have the opportunity to address your concerns directly.

7. Third-Party Links and Services

Our Site may contain links to third-party websites, integrations, or services that are not operated by KOBDi. If you click on a third-party link or interact with a third-party service (for example, a social media sharing feature or an embedded external resource), you will be directed to that third party’s site or service.

Please note: This Privacy Policy does not apply to the information practices of third-party websites or services. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party website or service you visit or use to understand their information practices.

For example, if our Site contains a link to a government database of Korean companies or a news site referencing a company, clicking those links means any data you provide to or that is collected by those external sites is governed by their respective privacy policies. Similarly, if you make a payment, the information you provide to the payment gateway is subject to that provider’s privacy and security policies.

We do, however, strive to protect the integrity of our Site and welcome any feedback about third-party links (including if a specific link is broken or appears to be malicious).

8. Children’s Privacy

KOBDi’s Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are under 18, please do not attempt to register for an account or send any personal information about yourself to us.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under the age of 18 (or under the relevant age of majority in the child’s jurisdiction) without verified parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Parents or guardians who believe that KOBDi might have any information from or about a child under 18 may contact us using the information provided in the Contact Information section below, and we will work to remove any such information.

(Note: While the general standard we use is 18, South Korean law (and some other jurisdictions) often designates children under 14 as requiring parental consent for data processing. KOBDi does not target or offer services to children under 14, either. If you are between 14 and 18, you should only use the Service with permission of a parent or guardian.)

9. International Users and Data Transfers

KOBDi is based in South Korea, and our Services are primarily directed to users interested in Korean business data. However, we recognize that we may have users from around the world. By using our Services, you acknowledge that your personal information may be collected, transferred to, processed, and stored in South Korea or other jurisdictions as explained in Section 5.2 (Data Storage Location).

Different countries may have different data protection laws than your country of residence. When we transfer personal data out of its country of origin, we will take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information. For example, if we transfer data from the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom to a country that has not been deemed to provide an adequate level of protection, we will use approved mechanisms such as standard contractual clauses or rely on another lawful transfer mechanism.

By using the Site, or providing us with any information, you consent to the transfer, processing, and storage of your information in South Korea and other countries, where we and our service providers operate. We will handle your information as described in this Privacy Policy regardless of where the data resides, but please note that the laws of South Korea govern the Site (as per our Terms of Service).

If you have questions about international data transfers or require more information about the safeguards we have in place, feel free to contact us.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update or modify this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make changes, we will:

  • Update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
  • In the event of material changes (those that substantially affect your rights or how we handle personal data), we will provide a more prominent notice. This may include posting a notice on our Site’s homepage or sending an email notification to users (if you have provided an email and agreed to such communications).

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of the Services after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

If you do not agree with any updates or changes, you should stop using the Services and, if applicable, delete your account or contact us to remove your data. We will not apply retroactive changes to the use of your personal data without your consent unless we are legally required to do so.
