Business Search – Address & Postal Code Lookup + Brand Name Matching

Status: Live
Effective: Jan 19, 2026 (KST)

We are rolling out another upgrade to KOBDi Business Search, building directly on our previous release: Business Search – The Ultimate Tool for Identifying Korean Companies. That update focused on solving Korea’s most persistent verification problem: ambiguity—where the same Korean business name can belong to many unrelated entities, and where unofficial English names often don’t appear in legal records.

This new release adds two practical identifiers that users frequently have before they have a BRN/CRN: Business Address / Postal Code, and Brand Names.

New Identifier: Search by Business Address & Postal Code

When a business name produces too many similar results (a common scenario in Korea), address information is often the fastest way to pinpoint the correct entity—especially when:

  • You only have an invoice, delivery label, or quotation header.
  • You are dealing with a store/branch location rather than headquarters.
  • You don’t have a Business Registration Number (BRN) or Corporate Registration Number (CRN) yet.

With this update, you can now search by:

  • Business Address (partial or full address text)
  • Postal Code (search by the postal code directly)

This feature is designed as an identification accelerator: when “Business Name” alone is not enough, adding an address clue can reduce dozens of candidates to the correct legal entity quickly and reliably.

Brand Names Now Supported (Korean & English)

We also added support for searching by brand names—in both Korean and English—to close a frequent gap in real-world identification.
In Korea, many people know the brand, but not the underlying legal company name behind it. To solve this, we integrated brand matching directly into the Business Name search:

  • Searching a brand name now returns results when the brand is found.
  • This works whether the query is a business name or a retail brand name.
  • Brand matching supports Korean and English inputs.

Coverage note:
For Korean business names, we provide coverage of approximately 5.1 million businesses. For brand names, coverage currently includes about 17,000 of the most known retail brands, and this list continues to grow daily as we expand brand intelligence.

How to Use This Update for Faster Identification

If you are trying to identify a Korean company and the name alone isn’t enough:

  • Start with Business Name (or the brand name you know).
  • If results are too broad, add Business Address or Postal Code as a second clue.
  • For even higher precision, stack additional identifiers such as CEO name, phone/fax, website URL, or email address (members only).

This approach is especially effective for common-name businesses, multi-branch operators, and cases where only partial details are available.

Why this matters

In cross-border business, verification often starts with incomplete information—a trading name, a brand, a partial address, or a shipping label. This upgrade ensures that even when you don’t have the “best” identifiers (BRN/CRN), you can still identify, verify, and confirm the correct Korean entity with significantly higher confidence.
